PocketWin Mobile Casino Review
Today, we’re taking a look at the ins and outs of PocketWin Casino so you know what to expect before giving their slot games a go. PocketWin is a mobile casino run by Intouch Games, a UK- based company who currently run four self-built casino sites. PocketWin have been around since 2010 and features only custom-built games created by their own dedicated team of designers, so don’t expect to find any of your old favourites appearing here any time soon. But if you fancy a change and want to check out what the creative minds at Intouch can come up with, PocketWin might just be the casino for you.
But before you sign up, let’s get into the nitty gritty of how PocketWin works, what bonuses and promotions you can expect, banking details, games and more in our comprehensive review.
To qualify for PocketWin’s welcome bonus, you need to sign up with an account. This is completely free and you don’t even need to enter any card details at this stage. So far so good! PocketWin will then text you an activation code – enter that and you’ll be ready to play.
You’ll straight away be met with PocketWin’s two-part welcome offer. A spinning wheel appears and that, once clicked, decides what size of a welcome bonus you will get. It can be anything up to £10. This differs from some casinos in that new players don’t get a set size of bonus. But the wheel game feature makes this part of the process more interesting, and you’ll still be getting a free bonus that you can use on any of PocketWin’s games, including slots, casino games and bingo.
The second part of the welcome bonus is a first deposit match. Deposit any amount and the spinning wheel will reappear. The maximum is a 200% match on your money, so there’s a chance you could see your first flutter triple in size straight away. So, if you deposit £10 and bagged the 200%, this will be split into your £10 deposit and your £20 bonus credit. Not too shabby! We weren’t quite that lucky but still managed to bag a 100% deposit match on our starting £10, giving us £20 between our money and bonus credit to play with.
It is important to note the distinction between your deposited money and bonus credit, as all bonus credit on PocketWin is subject to a 40x wagering requirement before that cash can be withdrawn. Naturally, T&Cs apply to those welcome bonuses too, so familiarise yourself with these first, but there are no hidden things lurking that are too out of the ordinary. Oh, and that 40x requirement doesn’t apply to your own money, which is good to know.
Games, Games, Games!
Without buying in games from big developers, PocketWin Mobile Casino still boasts a sizeable, varied and colourful selection of games with slots, casino games and bingo. And, because they develop their own games independently you will often see unique and more engaging styles that split away from the tried and trodden formulas and themes elsewhere.
That said, there’s still plenty of old-style favourites to choose from, like Cosmic Wilds, a classic one-armed-bandit slot with a stylish, retro space feel. All the games on offer work smoothly and often have unique mini-games, or clever twists on a previous theme. It’s even often worth reading the game pages that have been carefully written in an entertaining and engaging way.
We started with Dragon’s Zen, which has a really cool Chinese zodiac theme with lots of detailed, colourful drawings and animations. Like lots of the slots on PocketWin (but not all), you can vary the number of bet lines and, of course, change the size of your bet per line. This one has a neat gamble feature that can be used to multiply (or, in our unlucky case, lose) your win from one successful spin. The gamble involves guessing the suit or colour of the top card in a virtual deck. It’s a really smooth and tasteful way of trying to maximise your winnings.
Most of the slots we tried involved a couple of different mini-games depending on what came up in our reels. And there was almost always a chance of getting free spins or bonus symbols like wilds and jackpots. There was certainly plenty to keep us entertained, and we managed to convert our bonus credit into £15 of real money after the 40x wager, so that’s always a plus!
Bingo seems like it’s a very popular option on the site. There are 5 rooms to play in, and in each one we went in there seemed to be plenty of activity in the chat feed. In our experience, it’s the players that make bingo games work and PocketWin seem to have cultivated a really healthy community of regulars. It’s easy to play as the game automatically marks off your numbers for you, so most are just coming for a chill and chat with the added chance of bagging some winnings. It’s 10p a ticket or 60p a strip if you fancy a bit of bingo.
The classic casino games have been adapted to mobile. Blackjack definitely sacrifices style for substance – it’s not much to look at but the play is sharp and doesn’t have you waiting around. Roulette has some nice 3D graphics but they can’t take away from the fact that Roulette is just a bit dull for our taste! But we know that lots of people enjoy it, and if Roulette is your thing then this is one of the best ones we’ve tried for mobile.
Existing player perks
You’ve signed up, played through your welcome bonuses, tried out a few games and ridden that luck rollercoaster. But what’s next? Well, PocketWin do offer bonuses that are available to existing players, if you were so inclined.
Regular players have their loyalty rewarded by bonuses distributed by text message. There are usually extra bonuses when new games get released too, which happens about once a month.
PocketWin Mobile offer existing players rewards for referring a friend to PocketWin. If you’ve got friends who enjoy online casinos then that could turn out extra lucrative for you. If a friend makes an account, you’ll get a £5 bonus. If that friend then makes a deposit, PocketWin gives you 50% of that deposit in bonus credit.
On top of this, keep an eye out for seasonal offers and bonuses that pop up around holidays like Christmas and Halloween. And if you’re really in the mood for some freebies then PocketWin’s Facebook page is very active, with new competitions for £5 bonuses appearing a few times a week. Their Facebook community is pretty sizeable and engaging too so it’s a good place to spend some free time.
That’s all well and good, but how are PocketWin Mobile Casino when you’re trying to get your winnings? Thankfully, our experience with them was very smooth.
As we mentioned, we’d managed to bank ourselves an extra £15. Time to withdraw our hard-earned winnings! Let’s have a look how it all works.
First things first, deposits. We deposited by debit card, but you can also use credit card, Skrill, PayPal, Paysafecard or deposit by phone bill. It’s a minimum of £5, unless you deposit by phone bill where the minimum is £3. You can deposit on the site or by app. As ever we encourage everyone to deposit their money responsibly and only ever put in an amount of money that you are certain you can afford.
So if you’ve got lucky like we have, the next step is to withdraw your winnings. There are a few options in how this works. We deposited by card and so we had the option to withdraw back to that card or request a straight bank transfer. If you’ve used PayPal in the past with PocketWin, you can also withdraw to there.
While there is no minimum withdrawal – which is nice – there is a £3 fee charged for anything below £10, so it’s not really worth withdrawing anything less, and worth bearing in mind before you deposit. Luckily we had £15 to withdraw so there was no problem there. Three working days later we received a text asking us to confirm our ID, something that is nice and straightforward using the “send ID” button on the app. A few days later the money arrived in our account. Everything was hunky-dory, and we were £15 closer to an early retirement. We were a bit surprised the money took longer than the 24 hours guaranteed by other casinos, but this didn’t affect us and as long as you’re patient, the money will arrive soon enough and is worth just the same!
Security & Responsible Gambling
In this day and age, online security is always a concern. Thankfully, PocketWin uses 256-bit TLSv1.2 digital encryption to keep your details protected. They’re regulated by the UK Gambling Commission (license number 000-002091-R-104264-023) which means they have to comply with some reassuringly high standards, as well as having their games independently tested before they can be released.
PocketWin have also been awarded GamCare certification for their proactive and caring attitude towards gambling addiction and their player base. They offer responsible gambling tools like session limits, deposit limits, cool down periods and self-exclusion, plus they provide advice and support with the help of GamCare. If you’re struggling with your gaming, you can also register for GamStop, which will block you from accessing numerous mobile casino sites, including PocketWin and all other Intouch brands. Let’s hope we never need it!
Help & Support
PocketWin’s customer support team are based in the UK and available 24/7 all year round. That means they’ll be available for your problems, be it Saturday night at 2am, or even during your dinner on Christmas Day. We rang them up and they seemed a cheery bunch, so that’s always a good thing.
Getting in touch is probably easiest if you have the app – the support menu lets you use live chat, request a call back etc. If you can’t use the app, you can also get in touch using these contact details:
- Phone: 01384 888100
- Text: Send ‘support’ to 88600 for a free call back
- Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Live Chat: via www.pocketwin.co.uk
So, to sum it all up our experience of PocketWin was a largely positive one. We liked the games, their independent and unique feel (especially the winnings we managed to bag), and we think their bonuses are pretty strong too. It would be nice to know exactly how much of a bonus you were going to get before you signed up and deposited, but you’re pretty much guaranteed at least a chance to win some extra money for very little effort nonetheless. Some of the games, in particular the classic casino games, looked like they needed bit of a facelift, but their slots were eye-popping, fun and really engaging. Bingo was a big highlight too, with plenty of player interaction in the chat rooms. This seems to spill over well into their Facebook pages too. The banking, security and responsible stuff all seems very strong in our opinion, so there’s no need to worry there.
All in all we’re impressed with PocketWin Mobile Casino and we hope they continue to do what they’re doing!
